I’ve been coming here quite a lot recently and honestly really like this place. I personally prefer grilled food, but after moving to the Bay Area, I realized a lot of places tend to be more on the fried/oily side, which doesn’t really work well for me since I have a pretty sensitive stomach. What I really appreciate about this spot is that their food feels much cleaner and not overly greasy. It’s not that heavy fried style, which makes a big difference. I especially love their clear broth rice noodles — the flavor is light, clean, and comforting, and I never feel weighed down after eating. It’s become my go-to place whenever I don’t feel like cooking, whether it’s lunch or dinner. One thing that really stands out for me: I have a sensitive stomach and I’ve tried a lot of places in the Bay Area — about half of them don’t sit well with me. But I’ve eaten here many times, and I’ve never had any issues. That alone makes me trust this place a lot. And honestly, for the Bay Area, the price is such a great deal — super reasonable for the quality and portion. Also a small thing that surprised me (in a good way): they even have a 12% tip option, which you almost never see around here

Was sour but but the good kind. Meats were eh. Some of it was dry and had weird portions. Went in expecting the Thai fusion spot I remembered, but Yami Bowl has clearly changed owners because it’s now a Chinese restaurant. Decided to stay and order anyway, ‘cos at the end of the day it’s folks trying to make a living. We got the salt and pepper fish, garlic eggplant, chicken chow mein, and pork katsu. Everything was solid. The salt and pepper fish wasn’t overseasoned like other places do it, and the garlic eggplant was flavorful. The chow mein was standard. Only minor note is the pork katsu was a bit on the thin side, but it still tasted good. They might have been a northern Chinese place because they also offered skewers, but I didn’t try them. No American Chinese takeout here, btw. One suggestion for the new owners: consider a name change. While I was there, a few people came in asking for Pad Thai, clearly not realizing the restaurant isn’t Thai anymore. Meanwhile I’m sure people who actually wanted Chinese food would have come if the name advertised it. Because of all the confusion I think I was the only customer who stayed in the 15 minutes I waited for food. This is a FANTASTIC spot for Pad Thai. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the woman working the counter. She was incredibly friendly, was smiling, and took my order herself instead of making me use the iPad to order. Throughout my meal she kept checking on me to see if I liked the food. She was very attentive, and I could tell she really cared about the customer experience here. The food was fantastic! Absolutely delicious. And it came out very quickly. I had to ask for chopsticks (though they did bring a fork; I just wanted the chopsticks because I'm just that talented for a white guy 😅). Pricing was a little cheaper than I would have expected, which was a nice surprise. There is no drink fountain, and drinks are sold individually by the can, so be prepared for that. All in all, this was a fantastic place to eat. I arrived at 1130, and there was absolutely no line despite it being lunchtime. The restaurant was very clean, tidy, and well presented.
